Our Lady of Manaoag
Filipino’s are known for being religious.
Filipinos go to church every Sunday, they used to pray the holy rosary
especially the old ones, and have a lot of religious practices.
One of the
religious churches in the province of Pangasinan is the church of Our Lady of
Manaoag or commonly known as the Shrine of
the Nuestra Señora de Manaoag, is one of the most visited religious destinations
for thousands of Catholics. Located in
Manaoag, Pangasinan it was 200 km. north of Manila. The church was established
by Captain Gaspar de Gamboa in 1720. The church is
Spanish-Romanesque with a touch of German and Italian Renaissance architectural
composition.
Our Lady of Manaoag was considered
by the Filipino as the patroness of the sick, the helpless and the needy. Giant murals about miracles attributed to the
Lady of Manaoag can be seen on the walls of the shrine and at the center of the
altar is the full view of the image of the Virgin of Manaoag.
Every day, hundreds of devotees not only in the
Philippines but from all over the world lined up just to touch even just the
garment of the patron
